Your adventure begins in the St Nicholas district (Nikolaiviertel) which is opposite Museum Island, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1999, and the Berliner Dom cathedral. Walk along the avenue of the Kaisers, Unter den Linden, past Humboldt University and Bebelplatz, where you will learn all about the notorious Nazi book burnings that took place here. See the Royal Library, the State Opera and one of the most beautiful squares in Berlin, the Gendarmenmarkt. Hear the details of Hitler's rise to power and see the remains of the Gestapo headquarters at the impressive history exhibition known as the Topography of Terror. Recall the suffering of the Jews at Holocaust memorial.

Arrive at Checkpoint Charlie and find out about the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, and about the lives of the East Germans who risked it all to escape to the West. This landmark location is replete with period photographs. Admire the spectacular Potsdamer Platz, a shining example of the city’s contemporary architecture, and finish the tour at the Brandenburg Gate, the symbol of reunified Berlin.
