Florence Wonders Walking Tour with Accademia
Begin the tour as you step inside the Accademia Gallery, one of Florence's most visited museums. Here you will see some of Michelangelo's most renowned works, such as I Prigioni and San Matteo and the Palestrina Pietà. But if the Accademia Gallery is famous for something, it is for housing David, the masterpiece of the Italian genius. This world-famous 2 storey marble sculpture took 3 years to create and has an icon of the renaissance era.

Next, discover the monuments of the Medici district, home to the famous Florentine family. Admire the amazing palace where they lived, the ancient San Lorenzo Church and the Medici Chapels, commissioned by the Medici as their family mausoleum.

Continue as you explore the heart of the religious centre of Florence, such as the Cathedral with its incredible Brunelleschi dome, the Baptistery of San Giovanni with the Porta del Paradiso (Gates of Paradise) and the elegant Giotto bell tower, the loveliest in all of Italy.

The walk continues along lively Via Calzaioli in the heart of the city, where you can admire the imposing and singular Orsanmichele Church, a masterpiece of Florentine gothic art, decorated with shrines with statues of the patron saints of the powerful medieval trade guilds. Then we reach the bustling Mercato della Paglia (Straw Market): don’t forget to rub the nose of the famous porcellino (pig) and toss a coin into the fountain for good luck!

Admire the romantic, picturesque Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, with its renowned jewellery shops before arriving in Piazza Signoria, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and the political centre of the city. In this true “open-air museum”, you’ll be amazed as you admire the beautiful Fountain of Neptune and the sculptural masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi. Dominating all this is the majestic Palazzo Vecchio with its crenellated Arnolfo tower, one of the most famous symbols of Florence.
