Prizren is a town with around 90,000 inhabitants, and it is a true open-air museum, one of the most beautiful towns of Kosova.
It is situated on the slopes of the Sharr Mountains and on the banks of the river Bistrica. Prizren was established at a convenient locality as an important trading town, through which passed old roads towards the Adriatic coast and the interior of the Balkan peninsula.
The area of the Prizren valley has been settled by Illyrians since ancient times. The city already existed in Roman times, and in the 2nd century A.D. it is mentioned with the name of Theranda and in the 5th century A.D., it is mentioned with the name of Petrizên by Procopius of Caesarea. From all the cities of Kosova, Prizren has best preserved the architectural physiognomy of the past.
The most important that we are going to visit are: Fortress of Prizren dates from the 11th century and was built to protect Prizren from attacks, the Bajrakli Gazi Mehmet Pasha's mosque is the oldest monument of Islamic art in Prizren, the mosque which Mehmet Pasha earmarked as his grave, a Turkish bath which is built of cut stone and large bricks, Sinan Pasha's mosque built-in 1615, one of the oldest standing structures in Prizren is the Sh'nm'ria Levishka Church Built originally as a Roman Catholic Church to conclude with the house in which in 1878, the League of Prizren was organized.
