We will start to discover the lively atmosphere of the beautiful Spanish Steps, walking down the elegant fashion district lined by the most amazing shops we’ll reach the Trevi Fountain, the world’s most spectacular show-fountain in the world - don’t forget to throw a coin into the basin if you want to go come back one day! -. Stroll down to Piazza Colonna and the Italian Parliament Building – learn the methods secrets and anecdotes on how Roma created the first “republic” in history “res publica” (people’s power) and evolved to today’s democracy; then round the corner for the visit the amazing Pantheon, the most impressive and best preserved ancient Roman building, which set the rules of modern architecture.
Wander around charming little streets lined by bustling and be surprised by the amazing “San Luigi de’ Francesi” church where – if we are lucky (holy mess permitting) we’ll have an amazing surprise: three (3!) amazing Caravaggio masterpieces.. to leave you breathless.
After this shock, we are ready to move to Piazza Navona, the quintessential Roman piazza decorated by marvellous fountains among which Bernini’s famous “Fountain of the Four Rivers”, and nearby Campo de’ Fiori, a delightful square filled with sparkle and life. – hosting on weekday mornings a typical open-air market, a great place to check out the daily fresh produce and listen to the colourful voices bargaining.
We will reach “il Campidoglio” (one of the seven hills of Rome) home to the city hall, designed by Michelangelo before seeing the imposing Altare della Patria, which sets the beginning of one of our tour’s highlights: the walk down the Roman Forum mile, the founding site of Rome where you will discover the different layers of the city and the style that each Emperor gave to it, as you admire the majestic Colosseum standing right in front of you, as we get closer for the world most famous Arena.
